Visit Tarangire
Tarangire National Park is a 2,850-square-kilometer wildlife sanctuary located in northern Tanzania's Manyara Region, famous for its dramatic landscapes dominated by giant, centuries-old baobab trees and sprawling acacia woodlands. The lifeblood of the park is the Tarangire River, which flows directly through the terrain and serves as the primary freshwater source for wildlife across the entire region. During the dry season, this river valley transforms into a vibrant haven where thousands of animals migrate from the surrounding Maasai steppe, creating one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in East Africa outside of the Serengeti

As local guides who love sharing this park’s hidden magic, we know Tarangire as the undisputed “Kingdom of Elephants.” It is common to encounter massive breeding herds of 50 to over 300 elephants roaming together, digging for underground water along the dry riverbeds or resting under the cool shade of ancient baobabs. Beyond its famous elephant herds, Tarangire is a predator hotspot where you can spot lions resting in tree branches, stealthy leopards prowling the riverine forests, and cheetahs hunting across the open silale swamps.

The park is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts and wildlife lovers seeking rare species away from the larger safari crowds. Home to over 550 bird species including the colorful yellow-collared lovebird, red-billed hornbill, and giant kori bustard the vibrant marshes and riverbanks are constantly alive with sound and color. As you game drive across the golden savannah, you will regularly spot large herds of migratory wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, and rare antelopes like the fringe-eared oryx and the long-necked gerenuk.
